History
Pacweb.co is the blog, and Pacific Website Company Incorporated ("PacWebCo" or "The Company") is a consulting and holding company of Vancouver entrepreneur Tommy Humphreys (about Tommy).
21 year olds Macully and Tommy on a trip of a lifetime to Egypt June 2007 meeting web developers |
Founded on April 1, 2007 by childhood friends Tommy Humphreys and Macully Clayton, PacWebCo found its niche in the BC business community as a full service creative and web agency helping a diverse group of clients with branding, internet marketing and web development services. PacWebCo was a hybrid agency with local and international personnel working on various projects.
In late 2009, Clayton left PacWebCo to join one of its clients and Humphreys purchased Clayton's shares as well as an iron clad non-disclosure agreement. The two have remained very close friends.
In Spring 2010 PacWebCo was riding high--winning awards and preparing to move to a bigger studio. By Fall, business dried up and Humphreys was out of cash, forced to lay off team members, and working from home again.
After a few years of consulting for various clients including Cambridge House, an investment conference company, PacWebCo acquired the CEO.CA domain from friends of Humphreys. It paid a total of $4000 including a deposit of one ounce of gold for the domain, which was nearly everything Tommy had at the time.
In the following 9 years, CEO.CA grew to become one of the largest financial web sites in Canada, featuring live market data, real-time chat and a bustling community of investors and traders. Humphreys credits the growth of CEO.CA to the manic energy of its early years and the talent of consulting CTO Murat Ayfer, who joined in 2014 and designed its software. CEO.CA was acquired in 2021 by GoldSpot Discoveries in a $17 million deal.
Since 2012, PacWebCo has invested in venture stage companies in the technology and natural resources sectors. It held early stakes in Lithium X Energy and HIVE Blockchain among others and has diversified into other sectors. It continues to invest in and consult with compelling venture companies at early stages.
This blog was established in early 2022 as a home for Tommy's and PacWebCo's publishing.
